Basecoat the following areas / with the following colors:
Coat and hat/918 Forrest green,
Fur, quilt areas and tassel/907 Caramel,
Face/909 Gentle Flesh,
Beard/904 Light Grey,
Gloves and barn/944 Barn Red,
Walking Stick, barn door and windows /906 Cocoa Brown,
Sky in scene (including sun and clouds) / 925 medium blue,
Snow in scene/933 Little Boy Blue,
Trees in scene / 924 Teal,
Silo ,barn roof, lantern/ 903 Smoke,
Antique the entire piece with 718 Amber. Wipe the product back using a soft paper towel and 763 Antique Media.
To dry brush each area, use a stiff round drybrush of appropriate size. It may be necessary to touch up surrounding basecoat areas after dry brushing each area. When an area requires high lighting after dry brushing, a very small amount of a lighter color will be applied to the end of the previously used dry brush. This lighter color is worked into the brush onto a paper towel before lightly dry brushing the area.
Dry brush each area/ the following colors
Coat and hat/918 Forrest green and 919 Clover Green blended in brush
Fur and tassel/907 Caramel, highlight with 901 Bone blended using the same brush,
Face/909 Gentle Flesh, Blush cheeks using the same brush with a little bit of 913 Blush
Beard/904 Light Grey, highlight the beard by using the same brush tipped in white.
Gloves and barn/910 Scarlet Red,
Walking Stick /954 Brown,
Sky in scene- Drybrush lower area of the sky with a mixture of 925 Medium Blue and 915 Light Pink – Lightly Drybrush the upper area of the sky with a mixture of 925 Medium Blue and 933 Little Boy Blue blending the two areas together.
Snow in scene/900 White
Trees in scene / 924 Teal, highlight by drybrushing a small bit of White in the same brush
Silo ,barn roof, lantern/ 908 Tawny Beige, highlight by drybrushing with a small bit of 972 Silver in the same brush.
Sun and window area of lantern– wetbrushed 930 Sun Ray
Clouds-wetbrushed 900 White
Dilute 925 Medium Blue with water (1:4) and float the diluted color on the low part of the snow hills and the lower portion of the clouds.
Dilute 905 Rich Brown with water (1:4) and carefully float the diluted color onto the beard near the face and onto the fur near beard and face.
Paint eyes 900 White, iris 925 Medium Blue, pupils/lashes 902 White
Paint quilt squares 922 Navy, 910 Scarlet Red, 918 Forest Green (see picture for placement)
Using a small detail brush apply 900 White randomly on trees, roof and window sills in scene and randomly on Santa as snow. Spray the scene and top of santa with hair spray and sprinkle 977 Ultra Glitz into wet hair spray.
