#4000 Homespun Church Santa 908 Tawny Beige, 750 Bisque Primer, 938 Fawn, 900 White, 904 Light Grey, 902 Black, 905 Rich Brown, 903 Smoke, 909 Gentle Flesh, 718 Amber, 925 Medium Blue, 946 Whisper Blue, 701 Black, 906 Cocoa Brown, 713 Primrose, 714 Teal, 707 Evergreen, 711 Sapphire, 702 Walnut, 913 Blush, 972 Silver, 961 Perfect Matte Spray, 977 Ultra Glitz, Hair Spray, 763 Antique Media Intense Translucent brushes, Kimple dry brushes, small detail brushes Basecoat the following areas with the respective colors: Coat: 938 Fawn, fur & dove: 904 Light Grey, face: 909 Gentle Flesh, hair & beard: 900 White, Book: 903 Smoke, Bag & Strap: 905 Rich Brown, Gloves: 902 Black, Sky: 925 Med. Blue, all areas of scene below sky: 750 Bisque Primer, Antique the entire santa 718 Amber. Wipe back the entire santa with a soft paper towel and 763 Antique Media. Dry brush the following areas the following colors: Coat: 908 Tawny Beige and then highlight in the same brush 904 Light Grey, Fur areas 904 Light Grey and highlight in the same brush 900 White, Hair: 900 White, Flesh: 909 Gentle Flesh, blushing the face with a tiny amount of 913 Blush in the same brush. Dove: 904 Light Grey and 900 White. Gloves: lightly with 903 Smoke, Bag & Strap: lightly with 906 Cocoa Brown, Book: 903 Smoke and highlight in the same brush with 904 Light Grey and then 972 Silver, Sky: 925 Medium Blue and then using the same brush lightly with 946 Whisper Blue, Using a small Intense Translucent brush apply a small amount of 701 Black to the areas of the fur and hair areas closest to the face and beard. Use a clean brush to pull and blend the color outward. It may be necessary to lightly re-dry brush these areas with 904 Light Grey/900 white to blend to desired effect. Use a small amount of 713 Primrose on the horizon line of the sky and blend this color upward. It may be necessary to re-dry brush the sky 925 Medium Blue/946 Whisper blue to blend to the desired effect. Use a paper towel and Antique Media to wipe back the snow, church and quilting in the scene to desired whiteness. Using a small Intense Translucent brush to apply a small amount of 702 Walnut to the road. Pull back to desired translucency using a clean brush. Using a small Intense Translucent brush to apply a small amount of 714 Teal to the forward trees. Pull back to desired translucency using a clean brush. Using a small Intense Translucent brush to apply a small amount of 707 Evergreen back trees. Pull back to desired translucency using a clean brush. Using a small Intense Translucent brush to apply a small amount of 711 Sapphire to the church roof. Pull back to desired translucency using a clean brush. Using a small Intense Translucent brush to apply a small amount of a mixture of 714 Teal and 711 Sapphire to the river. Pull back to desired translucency using a clean brush. If desired, shade some of the snow areas with a tiny amount of 711 Sapphire/714 Teal in a brush. Do not over apply. In a well ventilated space, spray the entire piece with 761 Perfect Matte Spray. Allow the spray to dry and paint the eyes 900 White, iris 925 Medium Blue, pupils and lashes 902 black. Paint the quilting 922 Navy and 925 Medium Blue. (see picture for placement) Using a detail brush Apply 900 White to Santa hat/bag/sleeves/fur, church roof, trees and bridge as snow. If desired, splatter the sky area with diluted 900 White (a big dry brush dipped in diluted White "strummed" with a finger works good for this) Paint cross 900 White. Paint dove eyes 902 Black and beak 913 Blush. Spray scene with hair spray and sprinkle 977 Ultra Glitz into the wet hair spray. The hair spray will dry and the glitter will remain adhered. |
